Mission statement...

Fayette Friends of Animals is a non-profit organization that believes in the humane treatment and humane quality of life for all animals.  As such, we are striving to end the practice of euthanasia as a means of controlling pet over-population.  Specifecally, we provide financial assistance to low-income families to spay and neuter their cats and dogs, we do not adopt out any animal without it being spayed or neutered, and we strive to educate the public on the benefits of spaying and neutering such as:

  • Spaying eliminates the possibility of uterine and ovarian cancer and greatly reduces the incidence of breast cancer
  • Neutering eliminates testicular cancer
  • In six years, one female dog and her offspring can be the source of 67,000 puppies
  • In seven years, one female cat and her young can produe 420,000 kittens
  • Every day thousands of healthy, loving cats and dogs are put to death just because there are not enough homes
  • Each year, millions of stray animals suffer and die from starvation and freezing temperatures in our streets.

Volunteer-Reliant...

As a small non-profit organization we depend significantly on volunteers to keep the shelter running and the animals living in a humane, loving environment.  There are many types of volunteer oppurtunities for participation in our organization, here are just a handful:

In Shelter...  On weekends we drive to the Petsmart in Greenburg to offer our animals for adoption.  We need help setting up cages, assisting potential adopters, and walking dogs.

Phone Calls...  Provide follow-up calls to adoptive parents to check on the animal's progress.

Fundraisers...  We rely solely on fundraisers to support the shelter.  There are a number of regular fundraisers we promote and always need help orchestrating these events and with public relations in getting advertisements with local media of all types to promote these events.
